How to Order — Important Sizing Information
Select your required width and enter your required length. The membrane is priced and sold per linear metre — if you order 3 metres, you receive a single continuous 3m length.
We strongly recommend allowing a minimum of 100mm overhang on all edges before cutting. If your roof deck measures 3.0m x 2.0m, order a minimum of 3.2m x 2.2m to ensure full coverage and adequate edge detailing.
This 1.0mm EPDM rubber roofing membrane is the ideal waterproofing solution for sheds, garden rooms, garages, log cabins, outbuildings, porches, dormer roofs, and bay window roofs. Manufactured from high-grade synthetic rubber, it arrives as a single pre-joined sheet — no on-site seams, no risk of join failure, and no specialist equipment required.
EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) rubber has been the roofing industry's preferred single-ply membrane for decades, thanks to its extraordinary combination of flexibility, chemical resistance, UV stability, and proven longevity. Unlike traditional felt that degrades within a few years, this membrane will outlast the structures it protects — with a documented service life exceeding 50 years under normal conditions.
The 1.0mm thickness is the cost-effective choice for smaller residential projects where the roof will not be subject to heavy foot traffic. It is lightweight, easy to handle, and can be installed by a competent DIY enthusiast using standard bonded installation methods. For projects requiring compliance with current building regulations, we recommend considering our heavier 1.2mm or 1.5mm membranes.
Key Features and Performance Benefits
50+ Year Life Expectancy
Outperforms felt and bitumen alternatives by decades. A genuine one-time installation with no costly replacements.
Supplied in One Piece
Arrives as a single continuous sheet. No on-site joins required, eliminating the most common cause of roof leaks.
Absolute Waterproof Barrier
Completely impermeable membrane providing 100% protection against rainfall, standing water, and moisture ingress.
UV and Ozone Resistant
Specially formulated to resist UV degradation and ozone attack — will not crack, blister, or harden over time.
Superior Flexibility
Remains highly flexible from -40°C to +120°C, accommodating structural movement without splitting or losing seal integrity.
Maintenance Free
Once installed correctly, requires no ongoing treatment, coating, or servicing — only a simple annual visual inspection.
Lightweight and Easy to Handle
Significantly lighter than traditional built-up roofing systems. Easy to manoeuvre and position, even for a single installer.
Environmentally Responsible
Recyclable synthetic rubber with low VOC emissions. A more sustainable roofing solution compared to felt or bitumen systems.
Recommended Applications
Garden Sheds
Log Cabins
Garden Rooms and Studios
Residential Garages
Outbuildings and Workshops
Porches and Canopies
Bay Window Roofs
Dormer Roof Structures
Tree Houses
Summer Houses
Note: The 1.0mm thickness is ideal for non-trafficked residential structures. For projects requiring compliance with current UK building regulations, we recommend our 1.2mm or 1.5mm membranes.

Installation Overview
This membrane is installed using a bonded method with a water-based or solvent-based EPDM deck adhesive. The process is straightforward and achievable by a competent DIY installer.
Prepare the Substrate
Ensure the roof deck is clean, dry, smooth, and structurally sound. Remove any debris, nails, or protrusions. Any board joints should be flush and secure.
Dry Lay the Membrane
Unroll the membrane over the deck, allowing it to relax and acclimatise for at least 30 minutes. Ensure a minimum 100mm overhang on all edges.
Apply Adhesive
Fold back half the membrane and apply EPDM water-based deck adhesive to both the deck and the underside of the membrane using a roller. Allow to tack (approx. 10–20 minutes depending on conditions).
Bond and Roll
Carefully fold the membrane back onto the adhesive-coated deck, avoiding air pockets. Roll firmly with a heavy rubber roller to ensure full contact and a secure bond.
Finish Edges and Perimeters
Trim excess membrane, then secure all perimeter edges with compatible edge trims and mastic sealant to achieve a clean, weather-tight finish.
Frequently Asked Questions
Will the membrane arrive in one piece?
Yes. Unlike roll goods that require on-site joining, this membrane is supplied to you as a single continuous sheet (per order quantity). The manufacturer's roll may have internal joins, but your piece arrives pre-cut as one piece — meaning no field seams where leaks can occur.
Is the 1.0mm suitable for buildings requiring planning permission or building regulations approval?
The 1.0mm membrane is ideal for non-habitable structures such as sheds, garden rooms, garages, and outbuildings where building regulation compliance is not required. For habitable extensions or structures subject to building regulations approval, we recommend our 1.2mm or 1.5mm membranes.
How long will it take for EPDM rubber to last compared to felt?
Traditional bitumen felt typically lasts 10–15 years before cracking and requiring replacement. EPDM rubber has a documented service life in excess of 50 years, making it the clear long-term investment. Once properly installed, you are unlikely to need to replace it again within your lifetime.
Can I install this myself, or do I need a professional roofer?
EPDM rubber roofing is one of the most DIY-friendly roofing systems available. No hot works, open flames, or specialist tools are required. A competent DIY installer with the correct adhesive, a roller, and careful preparation can achieve a fully professional result. We recommend having the correct accessories before starting — adhesive, mastic sealant, and edge trims.
