The trim is the part of a rubber roof most people think about last, and the part that most often decides whether the roof leaks. The membrane itself rarely fails. The edge where it stops, turns, or meets another surface is where water gets in.

There are three profiles and each does a different job. A drip trim is used where the roof edge sits over a gutter — it grips the membrane and throws water clear of the fascia rather than letting it track back underneath. A kerb trim is for an edge with no gutter, giving a defined upstand that stops water running off the side. A wall flashing trim weathers the top of the membrane where it turns up against brickwork, so rain cannot run down the wall and behind the upstand.

All profiles are supplied in 2m lengths with matching internal and external corner pieces, so a rectangular roof perimeter can be finished from a single order without cutting mitres on site. Trims are fixed at roughly 200mm centres, with the joints backed by a jointing strip and sealed.

We also stock perimeter edge trim packs for GRP fibreglass roofs — see our GRP Fibreglass Roofing range if your project uses a fibreglass rather than rubber system.

Getting the edge right is what separates a roof that lasts fifty years from one that fails at the perimeter in five. Not sure which profile your roof needs? Our guide to fitting EPDM roof trims walks through each edge type with fixing centres and corner detailing, or call us on 02031510153 with your roof dimensions and we will list exactly what you need.
