EPDM Drain Outlets & Pipe Boots — Watertight Drainage Solutions for Flat Roofs

Proper drainage is critical to the long-term performance of any flat roof. Water that cannot drain effectively will pond, degrade adhesives and eventually find a way through. Our range of EPDM drain outlets and pipe boots provides professional, watertight solutions for every drainage situation.

All drainage products are specifically designed for use with EPDM rubber membranes and are bonded and sealed using standard contact adhesive and uncured flashing tape for a permanently watertight joint.

Drain Outlets & Gratings

Round Flat Roof Drain Outlet — The standard solution for flat roofs draining to an internal downpipe. Available in 75mm and 110mm bore to match standard UK drainage pipe sizes. EPDM collar bonded to the membrane and sealed with flashing tape.

Flat Roof Rainwater Outlet (Horizontal Spigot) — For flat roofs draining to an external downpipe or parapet outlet. Available in 68mm and 110mm bore.

Leaf Guards & Gratings — Dome-shaped polypropylene strainers prevent leaves and debris from blocking the drain. Essential on any roof with trees nearby.

Pipe Boots

Pipe Boots — Flexible EPDM pipe boots seal around circular pipe penetrations (soil pipes, gas pipes, satellite dish cables, antenna mounts) without cutting the membrane. Simply stretch the boot over the pipe and bond the flange to the membrane. Available in standard diameters from 16mm to 160mm.

Pipe Boot Sealer — Mastic sealant applied around the pipe after fitting the boot for additional weather resistance.

Installation Notes

All drain outlets should be positioned at the lowest point of the roof (remembering that the roof may deflect under ponded water weight). The membrane should lap generously over the drain collar flange (minimum 75mm all round) and be bonded with contact adhesive. Apply uncured flashing tape around the entire collar perimeter as additional insurance against water ingress.

Pipe boots should be bonded with contact adhesive applied to both the membrane surface and the boot flange. Allow to flash off, then press firmly into place. Apply a bead of lap sealant around the top of the pipe where it exits the boot.

Frequently Asked Questions

What size drain outlet do I need? Match the drain outlet bore to your existing or planned downpipe size. 75mm bore outlets connect to 68mm OD downpipes; 110mm bore outlets connect to 110mm (4 inch) soil pipes.

How many drain outlets does my roof need? As a general rule, one 75mm outlet per 25m² of roof area is sufficient for UK rainfall. Always provide at least two outlets on larger roofs so that drainage continues if one becomes blocked.

Can I fit a drain outlet through an existing EPDM membrane? Yes. Cut a circular hole slightly smaller than the drain outlet collar, fold back the membrane and bond the collar in place. Re-lap the membrane over the collar flange using contact adhesive and seal with uncured flashing tape.

What if I have a round pipe going through the roof? Use an EPDM pipe boot matched to the pipe outside diameter. Our range covers pipes from 16mm (cable) to 160mm (soil pipe) diameter. Call us if you need a specific size not shown.
