Frequently Asked Questions

How thick should my EPDM membrane be? For sheds and small garden buildings, 1.0mm is sufficient. For residential flat roofs, garages, porches and extensions, we recommend 1.2mm. For commercial roofs or where foot traffic is expected, use 1.5mm or 1.52mm.

How much membrane do I need? Measure the length and width of your roof, then add 150mm on all sides for the edge upstand. For example, a 3m x 4m roof needs a membrane of 3.3m x 4.3m.

Can I install EPDM myself? Yes. EPDM is one of the most DIY-friendly flat roofing materials available. Our installation guides and technical team are here to help every step of the way.

What's the difference between ClassicBond and Firestone? Both are BBA-certified EPDM membranes of similar quality. ClassicBond is UK-manufactured; Firestone RubberGard is US-manufactured. Both carry a 50-year expected lifespan and are suitable for identical applications.
