Description
Box profile steel is what goes on when a roof needs to be up, watertight and forgotten about: light enough for one person to handle, strong enough to span purlins without a deck beneath it, and cut to the exact length of your slope so there are no end laps to leak. Ordered per linear metre in any length from 1m to 7m, in 10mm increments — so a 4.35m slope gets a 4.35m sheet.

Frequently asked questions
How do I work out what to order? Measure the slope length from ridge to eaves (not the building's footprint) and add a small overhang at the eaves. Each sheet covers 1000mm of width, so divide your roof width by 1m and round up for the number of sheets. Buying sheets cut to the full slope length avoids end laps entirely, which is where sheeted roofs most often leak.
0.5mm or 0.7mm? 0.5mm suits domestic sheds, small garages and light-duty roofs with closely spaced purlins. 0.7mm is stiffer, spans further between supports and stands up better to foot traffic and hail — the usual choice for agricultural buildings, larger garages and anywhere access is likely.
What is anti-condensation felt? A fleece backing bonded to the underside of the sheet. Bare steel drips when warm moist air meets a cold roof — the felt absorbs and holds that moisture until it evaporates, instead of raining it onto whatever is stored below. Worth having on any building that gets used, heated or stores anything you'd rather keep dry. It's available on 0.7mm sheets.
Do I need a roof deck underneath? No — box profile spans between purlins, which is what makes it so quick to install. Check the span against the load table for your thickness and purlin spacing.
How is it fixed? Through the flat pan or the rib crown into the purlins with self-drilling fixings and bonded washers, with side laps of one full rib. Fixings and profile fillers are ordered to suit your job.
Can I use this on a flat roof? No. Profiled sheeting needs a fall to shed water. For a flat roof see our EPDM membrane or torch-on felt system.
