Description

Every flat roof that gets regular maintenance visits needs a defined route across it — walking directly on an exposed membrane wears it unevenly and leaves no visual cue for where it's safe to step. This heavy-duty PVC matting rolls out to create exactly that: a durable, non-slip access path from the hatch or ladder to the plant, outlets or anything else that needs regular attention, without fixings tearing into the membrane beneath.

  • Heavy-duty PVC walkway matting, 14mm thick, non-slip ribbed surface
  • Supplied in 10m rolls, three widths — lay end to end and side by side to route across any size of roof
  • No mechanical fixing needed — the matting's own weight and profile hold it in place
  • Also available as a smaller heavy-duty rubber mat sheet for a single step or landing point

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to fix this down? No — the matting is designed to sit under its own weight without penetrating the roof membrane. On exposed or high-wind sites, a site-specific risk assessment should still confirm whether additional restraint is needed.

Which width should I choose? 0.6m suits a single-person access route. 0.91m and 1.22m give more working space around plant, outlets or where two people need to pass, at a proportionally higher cost per roll.

Will this damage my EPDM or GRP membrane? No — that's the point of it. Walking directly and repeatedly on an exposed membrane wears a track over time; this matting spreads the load and protects the surface beneath along the route.

Can I join rolls together for a longer run? Yes — lay rolls end to end along your route; there's no chemical or mechanical joint between lengths, they simply butt together.

What's the smaller rubber sheet for? It's a single landing mat rather than a walkway route — useful at a hatch, ladder top or single fixed working position where you don't need a long run.

Fitting out a full roof access route? Pair this with our roof fall-arrest anchor & lifeline system, roof edge protection guardrail kit and fixed roof access ladder for a complete safe access setup.
