This modular pre-grown sedum tray skips both: each tray arrives already planted with an established mix of drought-tolerant sedum species, complete with its own drainage layer and growing substrate built in, and simply clips together with the next tray to form a continuous, instantly green roof.

Measure your flat roof area in m² and multiply by 4 to calculate the number of trays needed, then round up to the nearest pack option below. FAQs
Do I still need a separate substrate or drainage layer?
No – each tray is a complete, self-contained module with drainage and growing substrate already built in. A root barrier membrane beneath the trays is still recommended to protect the roof's waterproofing layer.
Will my roof take the weight?
A saturated tray weighs roughly 100kg/m² – always confirm this loading (plus your own build-up and any snow load) with a structural engineer or your roof kit supplier before installing a green roof.
How much maintenance does it need?
Sedum is drought-tolerant and low-maintenance once established, but an occasional light feed, weed removal and a check of the drainage outlets is recommended, particularly in the first year.
Can this go on a pitched roof?
Modular sedum trays are primarily designed for flat and low-pitch roofs; for anything beyond a shallow pitch, additional battens or restraint may be required – check with a specialist installer.
How quickly does it need to be installed after delivery?
As a pre-grown, living product, trays should be installed as soon as possible after delivery – ideally within 48 hours – to keep the sedum in good condition.
