Roof Access & Safety Systems

Ladders, guardrails and edge protection for safe, permanent or temporary access to flat and low-pitch roofs. Any roof that has to be reached for maintenance — clearing outlets, servicing plant, inspecting a membrane after a storm — needs a considered way of getting up there and a way of stopping someone walking off the edge.

Permanent or temporary?

If the roof is visited regularly, a fixed access ladder and permanent guardrail is usually the right answer: it is always there, always compliant, and nobody has to improvise. For occasional access, temporary edge protection that is installed for the duration of the work can be more practical and less intrusive on the roof finish.

Protecting the roof surface

Access systems and foot traffic are two of the more common causes of damage to an otherwise sound membrane. Free-standing systems that avoid penetrating the waterproofing are worth considering, and defined walking routes stop wear concentrating in one spot.
